Serve & Supply is Hosting a School Supply Drive!
Our school supply drives are dedicated to underrepresented and underprivileged students in Delaware. At Serve and Supply, we believe that all students should have equal learning opportunities, regardless of income and financial status. We hope to donate supplies to schools in need, and make education more accessible. 16.8% of children younger than 18 in DE live in households below the poverty line. That phenomenon directly correlates to future problems in education, since 16 to 24-year-old students who come from low-income families are proven to be seven times more likely to drop out than those from families with higher incomes. We believe that students should not be placed at a disadvantage due to financial strain in the household and that education should remain a separate affair from wealth inequality. For those reasons we hope to raise as much money as possible and to gather as many supplies as we can; only with the help of an entire community can we make a real dent in inequitable education. To achieve maximum results, we target poorer schools and communities, especially in inner-city Wilmington which lacks a high school due to mixed remnants of segregationist policies and modern wealth inequality.
